Postcards are an easy to connect with friends and family. They can also be a great marketing tool for businesses to reach out to potential customers. However, mailing postcards can be a bit of a hassle if you don’t know how to do it properly. This article will give you a step-by-step guide on how to send postcards in the mail so that your message reaches its intended recipient.
Postcard Mailing Etiquette
First, it is important to know that postcards have specific guidelines regarding their size and shape. They cannot be larger than 3.5”x5” or smaller than 4.25”x6”. In addition, they must be properly addressed with a full address and proper postage. Using the wrong type of postage will lead to a delay in delivery or even a return to sender.
Next, you should add your message to the left side of the postcard. This is the area where you can share a memory, introduce yourself, or promote a locals-only deal. You can use this section to your advantage and create a memorable postcard that will stand out amongst the rest.
Flip your postcard over to the back side and write the recipient’s address on the right-hand section. Generally, the back side of postcards are divided into two sections with the right-hand section having three diagonal lines for writing the recipient’s address. You should then add a stamp above the mailing address. Depending on the destination, you may need more than one stamp, especially for international mail.
